What was once the private mansion of the filthy-rich Von Pannwitz family is, a century later, one of Berlin's most exclusive hotels. In its former incarnation, the Palais Pannwitz hosted famous dinner parties on a regal scale. In its present one, as the Schlosshotel, guests still get the royal treatment thanks to the opulent rooms, luxury spa facilities and exquisite Vivaldi restaurant. And with Karl Lagerfeld the man responsible for the interior decor, it's safe to say that there's plenty of style as well as substance. Comfortably situated in the residential area of Grunewald, the Schlosshotel feels calmly detached from city life, yet is only five minutes by car or train from Ku'damm in West Berlin.
