St Christopher's

Part of the international Beds and Bars chain, St Christopher's in Berlin is a slickly run hostel in the Mitte district of the city. They seem to have thought of just about everything, from free wi-fi and breakfast, to individual reading lights on every bed and (a real boon after a late night on the town) a midday checkout policy. They can organise walking tours and cycle hire, will help you plan your stay if there are things that you particularly want to see and do, and even have luxury apartments to let if you fancy stepping up a notch. However, don't forget your passport, as it's required for check-in.
