East of Eden

Berlin's independent bookshops are all rather special, shunning the plastic and glass of high street names to create an atmosphere that comes close to a home from home for bibliophiles. East of Eden is one of these independents, offering second hand tomes in a variety of languages. This makes it a hot spot for ex-pats and tourists in Berlins Prenzlauer district, even more so because it often hosts events and 'happenings'. Somehow, it's a live music venue too (though it's hard to see just where a band can set up amid the stacks of books and browsers in comfortable armchairs). Overall, an excellent resource for first editions, rare and out of print books, as well as fiction of all genres.
