Marga Schoeller

|
More a literary salon harking back to Berlin of the 1930s than a standard bookshop, Marga Schoeller has been in Berlin since 1929.
The original Marga was a huge fan of theatre and literature, so stocked hundreds of titles of both genres, as well as more general books. Nobody is quite sure how she and the shop survived the war, as she not only refused to sell Nazi propaganda tracts but also refused to STOP selling the books that were illegal under the regime.
Rather nicely organised according to language, so you can find what you are looking for easily, whether it's general fiction or something more weighty, in English or German. |
