Schoenefeld airport is your most probable entry point into Berlin if you've booked a budget flight, with low-cost carriers Easyjet, Germanwings and Ryanair all flying here. Based 20km out of the city, Schoenefeld is in fact the furthest away of all Berlin's airports, however it also the one scheduled for massive expansion - whilst Tegel and Tempelhof face closure. As early as 2011 Schonefeld will emerge as the empirical Berlin Brandenburg International Airport (BBI), due to handle all of the capital's air traffic. Currently you can get to Schoenefeld by train (RE7, RB22, RB14), the airport express, the overground S45 and S9 and the buses 162, 163, 171, 734, N60 and N71.
