Müggelsee

|
It's a long, long way to the seaside from central Berlin - so many locals head out to the eastern side of the city instead during those long, hot summer days, to the banks of Grosser Müggelsee. The lake is one of the largest in the area, covering some 7.4 square kilometres (just under three miles if you're British), and reaching a depth of eight metres.
The beaches around the lake offer ideal sunbathing sites, and there are numerous boat and sport operators in the area who will take you out on the water to get active. There are beautiful forest walks nearby, picturesque villages, and spectacular hilltop views - all just a tram and a bus from the city. |
