The Mystery of Hitler's Skull
The story of Berlin is inextricably linked to the history of the Second World War, the Nazi rule, and its leader Adolf Hitler. As the Soviet forces closed in on Berlin, Hitler committed suicide in his bunker by swallowing a cyanide pill and then shooting himself. Soviets took a fragment of Hitler's skull back to Moscow, where it have remained until today. A bullet hole in the skull is one of the main pieces of evidence supporting the belief that Hitler shot himself.
However, it has been recently revealed, through DNA tests conducted by scientists from the University of Connecticut, that the fragment of skull believed to have belonged to Hitler is in fact that of a young woman. As if this wasn't enough to fuel conspiracy theorists, a new twist to the story has recently emerged. The deputy director of Russia's state archive (where the skull fragment has been kept) as stated that there are no records of the American scientists being granted access to the archive.
In any case, the belief of Hitler's suicide has been supported by many other facts and witness accounts to not be so easily debunked. Though as with many stories, conspiracy theorists remain the most difficult to dissuade!
