Wax Hitler Causes Controversy
With the new Berlin branch of the famous Madame Tussauds waxwork museum due to open soon in the capital, one planned exhibit was always likely to stir controversy.
The effigy in question of course is none other than Adolf Hitler, the notorious Nazi dictator who led Germany and the world into the planet's bloodiest war, resulting in the deaths of tens of millions of people.
"Our surveys show people want to see him because he belongs to Germany's past," said spokesman Natalie Ruoss in defense of the decision to feature the Fuhrer, adding that Hitler would be featured as a broken man in a bunker - presumably contemplating his imminent defeat.
Nonetheless many have criticised the idea, claiming that the figure could attract neo-Nazis, or that it was insensitive, or that it was highly inappropriate - especially as children may be want to pose for photos with a man with so much blood on his hands. Others have accused the museum of deliberately sparking controversy to cash in on publicity.
