Berlin Opera reaching new highs

A Berlin opera house is encouraging its audience to get high along with the actors while watching a new opera.

The Neuköllner Opera House says smoking a joint will enhance the psychedelic experience of Camille Saint-Saens' play, 'The Oriental Princess'.

Artistic Director Bernhard Glocksin acknowledges, however, that a large mellow audience will also test Berlin's drug law, which allows the possession of up to 10 grams of grass for personal use.

"It's a test to see just what we can get away with," Glocksin said.

He also believes the opera house is protected by artistic license, but smoking grass in public places can be interpreted by law as an offence against the German constitution.
