Berlin expects tourist invasion for World Cup

Berlin : Berlin is expecting around 300,000 hotel guests and more than one million visitors a day during the World Cup, the German capital's head of tourism said.

"The reservation wave for the World Cup is rolling," Peter Nerger said Thursday.

Apart from the flood of visitors, Berlin tourist officials are expecting 20,000 journalists in the city for the tournament between June 9 and July 9.

Nerger said he did not think there would be any security problems during the tournament. The city was reckoning on a party mood and a family atmosphere. Berlin aims to be a fantastic host, he said.
