BERLIN - Germany's new government is not planning to support the claims from World War II refugees about the return of property in the Czech Republic or Poland, Chancellor Angela Merkel said Tuesday.

She was speaking in Berlin during a visit by Czech Prime Minister Jiri Paroubek.

In her comments, Merkel stressed that this had been the stance taken by successive German governments including those headed by chancellors Helmut Kohl and Gerhard Schroeder.

Merkel accepted an invitation from Paroubek to visit Prague next spring and went on to affirm plans to further develop the German- Czech future funds despite limited finances.
