World's Largest Bike Demo Held in Berlin

The world's largest bicycle demonstration was held in Berlin this year, with the Star-Ride attracting approximately 150 000 bike enthusiasts to the city streets. Similar to Critical Mass demonstrations which take place in cities across the world, Star-Ride is an event when cyclists join in force to take over the streets for a day and celebrate this cheap, convenient, and healthy alternative of transportation.

Berlin's Star-Ride got its name from the pattern of the trails, totalling in over 1000 kilometres, leading into the city centre at the Brandenburg Gate. This year's Star-Ride also coincided with the World Environment Day festival taking place in the same location.
