Berlin's Naked Housing Protests
Protesting the continuous gentrification of many of Berlin's more "alternative" districts such as Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, a group of demonstrators have approached the problem in a rather unusual way.
The group, called Hedonists International, are protesting what they call "illicit profiteering" by real estate developers who have moved into desirable districts and transforming them with modern, and expensive housing. The group have organized what they call "hedonistic flat viewing rallies", showing up at public viewings of homes which they consider overpriced, stripping naked, and dancing to techno.
On their website, Hedonists International write: "Although the apartment passed our party test, we were pissed about the rent of 11,50 euros per square meter – that’s excluding utilities and heating costs."
