High Times in Berlin
The city of Berlin is set to further relax laws on Cannabis possession raising the legal limit from 10 to 15 grams - an amount with a street value of over 100 euro. The Brandenburg state government, which controls Berlin, is where these regulations are created, as German federal law states that the actual "small amount" that is legal for possession must be determined at the state level.
While Berlin has made efforts to curb drug dealing through regular raids in city parks, administrators such as health official Katrin Lompscher insist that the 10-gram regulation was a success. Increasing the amount to 15 grams is the logical step in their eyes.
If the regulation will pass, Berlin will be one of the most cannabis-friendly cities in Europe.
