One week ago on a friday me and 6 friends went to this restaurant / club.
Very nice place at the Spree river, terrace partly in the water. Insight a big (trendy) space for a good party, although it was more top-40 music the DJ played.
First of all the food: we ordered a big plate with all kinds of entrees, but the sate was cold, also the other entrees with meat. Maybe it had to be like that, but I like it more hot.
We we're still eating from the big plate and then some other waitress (than the one who was serving us from the start) arrived with the main courses(?).
She had to ask another waitress to make som space on our table. I noticed her that we had just finished our entrees. You don't make people feel welcome when you serve the food with that kind of haste, is it???
She said she would send the manager, but then our first waitress came to the table and explained that it was her fault because she gave orders to the kitchen. Ok, we accepted that and didn't make a problem out of it, but eventually half of the food on the main dishes (which was good!) was not eaten because we had just finished the entrees. That was a pity...
After the main courses some of us ordered a cappuccino. When serving, it look like a cappuccino but it wasn't. I can not imagine that the don't know how to make a cappuccino, but once again, we didn't make a problem about it.
Serving the wine during our diner was good, no comments about that.
Then the best part comes; when paying the bill I gave a tip of 9 euro's on a total of 426,- euro's, because I wasn't satisfied in general about our visite at Spindler & Klatt.
Then the waitress tells me that in our country (Netherlands) you give a lower tip than in Germany, because they are used to gave 8-10%.
I know that it isn't much, but considering that half of our bill consisted of the price for the main courses which was half eaten, the plate with entrees was +/- and the cappuccino was very bad, I think she can not order me to tip 8-10 %. How brutal and agressive!
Also, in the Netherlands we are used (and I think in many other countries too) when something is going wrong in the service, you reduce the bill with a bottle of water for example. That didn't happen.
Eventually she didn't take the tip of 9 euro and I payed the 426,- euro.
So, I think it is a nice place to go to, but beware when it's very busy (all the tables we're occupied), because our experience is they can not overlook the situation!!!
