The term 'garden' does Prater no justice. 'Field' or 'Small county' would be a much better description. An outdoor venue, it is only open from April to September, but you can bet that it's never going to be quiet on a single day between these months.
Prater seats 600 comfortably, with plenty of leg room - and what's more, a fair number of the seats are sheltered so you can continue drinking come rain or shine.
At any time of the year, you can sample traditional German cuisine at the (indoor) restaurant attached to Prater.
The place has a fascinating history too, with the first beers said to have been served there from at least 1837. Since that time it has also been a restaurant, meeting place, theatre, ballroom and garden. |
