Abguss Classical Sculpture Collection

|
A fascination with Greek and Roman sculpture led to the creation of this project - all the way back in 1695. Then, artists worked to recreate some of the great works of the ancients, in plaster.
Sadly, many of the original pieces were destroyed during the second world war, but now there is an opportunity to see new examples - thanks to the work of specialists and artists at the Department for Classical Archaeology at the Free University and the Staatliche Museen Preußischer Kulturbesitz (National Museum of Prussian Cultural Heritage).
The collection features around 2,000 pieces, and is used for public display and education. |
