Museum of Musical Instruments

Set aside Saturday morning for a trip to the Berlin's Museum of Musical Instruments, and hear Europe's largest Wurlitzer in action. The monster organ includes 1228 pipes, 175 stops, and 43 pistons, and casts a shadow over anything produced today. Instruments from all ages are presented at the museum just off the Tiergarten in the centre of the city, including some very rare pieces. There are also several curiosity pieces, including a harpsichord that belonged to Queen Sophie Charlotte (she of Charlottenburg fame), Frederick the Great's flutes, and a glass harmonica that was the pride and joy of Benjamin Franklin. Sadly, they haven't yet got hold of Nero's fiddle, but nevertheless a unique museum worth a look.
