Markisches Museum

Gothic chapel, great hall, armory... just a few of the 40 rooms set aside to display artefacts and information about the history of Berlin.
Other museums place huge emphasis on the role of Berlin in 20th and 21st century history, so it is refreshing to see a place that looks at the the development of the city as a whole. Reconstructions, images, documents and archaeological finds come together to present a picture of the city as it developed from a small settlement to the capital of a major emerging power. Trade, interaction with other Germanic and European peoples are the progress of the arts, science, politics and day to day domestic life are all represented. |
