Migration and social, cultural and economic integration (or lack thereof) are the key areas explored by the Museum of European Cultures, part of the State Museum of Berlin's Dahlem branch. Changing borders, changing political and religious affiliations, and of course the countless, brutal and catastrophic wars that have shaped Europe for time immemorial have all played their part in segregating and developing populations into more than just nationalities, but into communities with shared and sometimes very specific values and customs.
National, community and ethnic groups of Europe are represented in a comprehensive examination of a situation that may yet throw up surprises for today's 'Europeans'.
