Asian Art Museum

The Asian Art Museum is the result of the merger of two former establishments, the Museum of East Asian Art and the Museum of Indian Art. Since 2006 they have operated under a single banner at the Dahlem branch of the State Museums of Berlin, just to the south-east of the city centre. The collection on show represents arts and crafts from the past six thousand years, and is one of the most important and significant of its kind. The new, combined museum's geographic sphere of influence is huge, covering India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet, China, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan, Korea and Indonesia. From neolithic Chinese finds to delicately executed Japanese paintings, visitors are guaranteed a real taste of the cultures of the eastern hemisphere.
