Grunewald Lodge

|
Newly reopened in 2009 after urgent repairs, the Grunewald Hunting Lodge is an attraction for lovers of fine art, architecture and German history.
As well as being the oldest palace in Berlin, it is also home to paintings by the masters, including Rubens.
In a separate section is the archaeological gallery, where artefacts discovered in the grounds of the lodge are on display.
While the hunt is no longer carried on here, its history in this part of Germany is illustrated by paintings and sculptures, from a time when the pursuit and slaughter of the local wildlife was truly an everyday sport of princes. |
