Luftwaffe museum

|
Situated a little way out of central Berlin, it's nevertheless worth making the journey out to see a museum with a 'live' historical background.
Flags representing the armed forces of Germany, the Soviet Union and Great Britain have all flown at the Gatow airfield in its time. And it was a key site during the Berlin airlifts of 1948/49, when supplies for besieged West Berliners were flown in.
Nowadays it houses both permanent and temporary exhibitions of uniforms and equipment, and has more than 100 aircraft on display on the runways. |
